Why I’m building DeltaLayer
I'm Kay Evers, a Dutch founder and developer.
I've spent much of my career building websites, platforms and the systems behind them. Along the way, I started paying closer attention to the infrastructure they rely on: domains, DNS, hosting, email and the external services connecting everything.
What stood out was how much of this infrastructure is controlled by companies outside Europe. Many European businesses rely on these providers every day without having a clear view of those dependencies or where control ultimately sits.
That is not necessarily a problem. Many of these services are excellent. But businesses should be able to see what they depend on, understand the trade-offs and make deliberate choices about where they want greater European control.
Mission
DeltaLayer helps European businesses understand which providers their visible domain infrastructure depends on, where those providers are based and which European alternatives exist.
European control should be a practical choice, not an all-or-nothing position. The goal is not to label every non-European service as bad, but to give businesses the information they need to decide what they want to keep, review or replace.
The first product is the EU Stack Checker. It reads the public signals around a domain and identifies providers connected to DNS, email, hosting and website services. The result is not a complete inventory of everything a business uses, but it makes an important part of its digital dependencies visible.
DeltaLayer is currently in public beta. I'm starting with the free checker to learn which insights people find useful, which businesses care about them and where they need help taking the next step.
The longer-term ambition is to move from insight to practical action: helping European businesses compare alternatives, prepare migrations and gain greater control over the infrastructure behind their domains. Which form that takes will be shaped by what people genuinely need, not only by what is technically possible to build.
